Ewan rocks in The Phantom Menace. Why not make your own movie, and see where it takes you.
The Manchester International Festival is presenting yet another opportunity to do something cool. This July, Industrial Resolution will take place at Manchester Central. Some of the world’s biggest DJs will play to thousands of clubbers. However, event organizers have now commissioned Todd Graft to present a world class multimedia show.
If your work is good enough, it will be included in Todd's projection. That means it will be seen by Fat Boy Slim, Sasha, thousands of clubbers and lots of important media types. If you are interested in creating multimedia stuff, this is a great opportunity to really promote yourself.
And let’s face it, the creative sector is fiercely competitive. This is just the type of achievement that might help you get onto a top course or into a cool job. It will make you and your CV more competitive. And that is always a good thing.
Your work cannot be longer than 30 seconds and must work at 25 frames per second. If that bit of information means little to you, do not worry. It is all simple stuff. Also, your final work should be no smaller than 180 x 135 and up to PAL.
It is important to know that your work really could be selected. And this competition is not just for rich kids. You can download the latest version of Flash now for free. The trial only lasts 30 days, but that is long enough to create a 30 second movie. Microsoft also provide Windows Media Movie Maker. This software is free, easy to use and highly rated.
However, like all assignments, you need to be focused. Your work should be based on the following themes; Industrialization, Communication, Music, Science, Dance, Fashion and Time. The themes all complement the story of Manchester, which went from being the industrial centre of the world to a pop culture capital in a few hundred years.
It might be a good idea to do a bit of research on Manchester. Locals can visit Central Library, where the local history section has a wealth of information. However, online research might be just as useful. Manchester City Council has a useful website, which is ideal for a little background information on the city.
