Are you a victim of Moss mania? Have you been involved in the whole Top Shop adventure, and successfully got hold of a Kate designed item?
If so, that is fine. Kate Moss has bewitched the fashion world and several generations of women for nearly twenty years. She was a teenage supermodel, hanging out with Christy Turlington and rock stars when other girls were knee deep in A levels.
Famously spotted at JFK airport, Kate was only 14 when Sarah Doukas first saw her world class potential.
Kate’s career has been through a number of phases since, from her waif look in the early 1990s, to her Hollywood princess years with Johnny Depp. Since then, it has all been about rock and roll.
This girl loves rock stars. Kate has enjoyed friendships with a lot famous musicians, from punk rockers like Paul Simonon to Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream. Her current boyfriend, Pete Doherty is the perfect example. Pete found fame in The Libertines, and is now the lead singer of Babyshambles.
So, it’s fine to be hung up about Kate. The only problem is that your obsession will not actually take you anywhere. It will not help you pass exams or find a job that you really want to do. If you are interested in Kate because of the fashion, why not think of a career in that industry.
And probably not modelling. Yes, Kate has earned millions from this activity. However, any smart person will realize that the chances of doing the same are not high. The more sensible option may be to think of a proper career in the industry, where qualifications, hard work and determination will give you a good chance of success.
While reading magazine articles about Kate might be fun, it probably will not help you get a job in fashion. If you do want to help take yourself forward, a course at a good fashion college might be a good idea. The fashion industry is big and complicated, so you need to know what you want to do in it. Time spent researching this sector and contacting good colleges is time well spent. Part-time jobs in retail and work placements will also help.
Think in terms of reading, thinking, planning, studying, working and then succeeding.
