During the 1980's The Hacienda was the most famous nightclub in the world. Its origins can also be traced back to the Sex Pistol's set in 1976, where a young Tony Wilson stood in the audience. Tony Wilson and Rob Gretton went on to create Factory Records and The Hacienda. This period of time has been famously dramatised in the Michael Winterbottom film 24 Hour Party People. In the film, Tony Wilson is played by Steve Coogan.
